Gentry and Sarah Clark grow corn and soybeans in Sunflower County.

In 2022, Mississippi corns had a production value of more than $631 million, contributing a substantial amount of revenue to the state’s economy. That revenue was generated by the 1,427 corn farms in Mississippi that produced more than 91 million bushels of corn, including the Clark’s farm, Flat Forty Farms.

The Clarks pride themselves on providing their corn crop to a local market, allowing them to make an impact on the Mississippi economy.

“Although we contract through an elevator, nine times out of 10, our corn ends up somewhere in Mississippi, like at Peco Foods in Philadelphia,” Gentry says. “It’s really nice to know that we have a market for our products in Mississippi, but also that we are helping another producer down the line.”

The Clarks are proud to be a farm family of Mississippi and active members of the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation.

Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation and other Mississippi agriculture industry stakeholders launched Farm Families of Mississippi in 2010 to promote the importance of agriculture to the public. The program uses multiple forms of advertising each year to educate those who are not actively engaged in farming.
